Hey guys, my sister and her husband have a 2017 Escape Platinum. It has about 65k miles and is just getting the coolant intrusion issue. They’ve offered to give us the vehicle, but we’d have to pay for a new engine to make it usable. Do you think the vehicle is worth it? I think the price to fix/replace the engine was quoted at 7K to 8K. Ford will not help them a single bit for the repair. I know it books higher than the engine cost, but I am very vehicle illiterate. Is this worth pursuing?
My 2017 Escape SE had coolant intrusion. I called Ford’s Customer Satisfaction Program and pled my case. It was approved, and instead of the 12k to fix it, I only paid 4k. I thought it was worth it considering the 3rd-party alternatives. I’ll never own another EcoBoost engine again. You might want to look into Ford’s program again and really, really press them.
@Gracen
That’s good to hear. Just curious. Were you just outside the 7 years (or 84k miles) that Ford covers under their Customer Satisfaction Program 21N12 that addresses coolant intrusion in the 1.5L? I’m really surprised they kicked in any $$$.
@Lennon
I’m just getting done going through this. 2017, 72k miles. Ford Customer Care would do absolutely nothing because it was past the 7 years from the warranty start date. Good luck. The quote to do our engine was $9,2xx.xx.
@Aeron
Thank you for your comment. About $9k is what I’ve been hearing too. Sorry this happened to you.

Didn’t fix it, it was a car we had just purchased and found out 3 days later. The dealership is buying it back for less than we paid. Hope everyone that’s had the issue is filing an NHTSA complaint and signing up for the class action lawsuit.
Not worth the money.
