I just had my Escape towed to a local automotive repair shop. On Saturday night, while driving home from work, it started to buck and then felt like it wanted to stall. I received a notification saying something like ‘transmission fault, seek service.’ Thankfully, I managed to get home safely and didn’t drive it any further. I’m really hoping for an easy diagnosis since it’s my only car. Fingers crossed! Hope everyone is having a good day.
It sounds like it might be an overhaul or replacement issue. A torque converter shudder could mean you need a new torque converter, pump, valve body, solenoid body, and a seal kit. Unfortunately, this isn’t going to be cheap.

Yikes! I’d rather hear good news. Do you think any of this would be covered under warranty?

Do you have an extended warranty? The normal powertrain warranty is usually 5 years or 60k miles.
@Ren
Yes, I have an extended warranty.
In that case, it should be covered.
The key word is ‘should,’ especially since it’s a Wynns warranty…
@Teal
As long as it has powertrain coverage, you’re in good shape. Just be aware they might ask for maintenance records—that’s how third-party warranties sometimes avoid paying.
