Hey everyone, I’m not really looking for exact answers, more of a discussion. My mom has a 2018 Escape with 83k miles. Back in July 2023, she needed a full engine rebuild. Now we just found out the transmission is completely done and has to be replaced. Thankfully, this happened just before her powertrain warranty runs out on January 27th!
She keeps up with all the regular maintenance and doesn’t “abuse” the car. It’s in great shape, except for a few minor scratches.
For context, she’s got the 1.5L engine (Ecosport) and bought the car from Enterprise in August 2019. I’m wondering if anyone else has had similar issues? Are older models better? I’ve got a 2012 Escape, and after an engine block replacement at 100k miles, it’s been running fine with just basic maintenance—currently at 237k miles. Did she just get a bad one, or are the newer ones just less reliable?
Would love to hear your experiences!
