Ford Escape getting discontinued... is this really the end?

Saw an article saying the Ford Escape might be discontinued soon. They’re focusing on larger vehicles in the US now. Honestly, my 2023 Ford Escape PHEV has been amazing for my family of 3. It’s sad to see such a great model possibly go, but what do you all think about this?

I’ve got a 2022 Escape Hybrid PHEV, and I love it. Such a smooth ride and super practical. It’d be a shame if they stop making it.

I work at a Ford dealership, and nothing is officially confirmed yet. Unofficially, we’re hearing 2025 could be the last year since they just refreshed it for 2024. Ford might repurpose the plant for a new EV. Anyone else heard similar rumors?

@Nico
Yeah, 2025 seems likely. I sell Lincolns, and there’s talk that the Corsair might also be on the chopping block. Makes you wonder what’s next for these plants.

Totally agree. Honestly, my brain feels like mush trying to keep up with all the model changes. Fingers crossed for an affordable EV option soon.

@Nico
Same here. A PHEV Bronco or Bronco Sport would be perfect. I’d switch over to one of those in a heartbeat.

@Nico
How would you compare the electric Explorer to the Escape PHEV? I haven’t seen the Explorer in my area yet.

I think it’s based on a Volkswagen platform and isn’t sold in the US. Honestly, I’d prefer a PHEV over an EV with limited range.

@Sidney
Makes sense. The price difference here is huge, though—our Explorers start at way less than I expected. I’m curious how it stacks up.

The Escape PHEV (called the Kuga PHEV in Europe) is super popular over there. It’s been a top seller for a while now.

It seems strange they’d get rid of their only PHEV. Hybrids and plug-ins are crucial during this transition period.

Agreed. I actually work at GM but ended up buying a Ford PHEV because I wanted something reliable and efficient.

I love my Escape, but I’ll admit it’s missing a lot compared to competitors. AWD, heated rear seats, and better features should’ve been standard by now. Ford seems to make odd decisions when it comes to discontinuing models.

@Asa
When I got my 2022 Titanium, I noticed AWD was left out as an option, which is frustrating. They could’ve easily added it for a bit more cost.

Probably because the Lincoln Corsair has AWD and they didn’t want to compete with their own lineup. Still, the Escape PHEV is better for efficiency and price.

The shift to bigger vehicles in the US is a bit much. I recently came back from living in Portugal, where cars are smaller and way easier to handle. Makes me wonder why we can’t keep vehicles like the Escape around.

Escape PHEV owner here, and I love it. Great mix of efficiency and practicality.

I don’t get why they’d cancel it right after a redesign. Doesn’t make much sense to me.

The Escape Hybrid is an excellent fleet vehicle. If Ford marketed it better to taxi and rental companies, it could’ve had a longer lifespan.

I’m skeptical about this rumor. Ford Authority says production is still ramping up. Not seeing signs that it’s ending anytime soon.
