Got this for $3k on Marketplace… worth it?

Needed an extra vehicle. Found this gem. 106k miles, 09 XLT fwd i4. Owned by an old lady for 13 years that kept every receipt.

Spent $352 on parts from rockauto -trans fluid replaced, new front pads and rotors, new rear shocks, replaced liftgate hinges, coolant replaced, new spark plugs, detailed the interior and engine bay, refurbished the headlights.

Was it owned by some little old lady? LOL

And she only drove it on the highway, of course.

That’s a great deal. Take care of the underside, keep up with transmission fluid changes, and maintain the engine. It’ll serve you well.

Just spray the underside with flex seal! LOL

@Dacey
Why would you do that though?

It’s just a joke! You’ve never seen Phil Swift and his Flex Seal commercials?

Oh, my bad, man. I’m kinda new around here.

@Tobin
No worries! All good. What do you mean by new though?

Just moved here recently, learning stuff as I go.

That’s a steal. Great find!

This is why I love old lady cars. The one I bought had barely 5,000 miles a year on it.

Solid buy. I got a 2012 XLT and shipped it to Ghana in 2020. Still running strong, though I’m battling rust underneath.

Not bad at all! I grabbed a 2008 Escape Hybrid for $2k. Bought it with 250k miles, now at 260k, and no problems yet, even though everyone said it wouldn’t last this long.

Check if the power steering assist sensor recall was done. I had to replace mine myself—$50 part and an easy fix, but it’s annoying.

@Storm
My 2012’s power steering is acting up. Could this be related?

I’ve got an 06 hybrid with similar mileage. Still no major issues!

Mine’s at 260,000 miles and still going!

You’re set for a while. I drove my 2012 up to 212,000 miles before it got totaled.

That’s a crazy good deal.
