Is there supposed to be a cover under the glove box?

Hi All,

I have a 2022 Ford escape PHEV that got some work done at the dealership. I wonder if there’s some sort of cover board that should go under the glove box on the passenger side? It does seem like there are some hooking mechanisms. Dealer first said they misplaced the board and will fix it. Later said there’s no cover board at that location.

If you have the same car, could you please take a look under the glove box? Thank you for your help!

There should be a cover or carpet underneath. No way they’d sell a car with exposed wiring like that.

That’s what I thought too, but it’s hard to find any clear photos or videos online. If you have a similar model, could you send me a pic? Thanks! :pray:

I think the part you’re looking for is LJ6Z-78046A25-AA or LJ6Z-78044F58-AA. But Ford didn’t include these on all models from the factory. Easiest way to tell is if the clips are missing from the upper mounting holes.

This is super helpful, thanks! Is there any way to check if my car should have it? I have a 2022 Escape PHEV SE. Also, what do the clips look like?

I’ll check mine tonight and let you know if it has the panel. The clips should just be small plastic pieces that snap into the holes at the top.

@Kumi
That would be amazing. Appreciate it!

Yeah, this was probably around the same time Ford stopped including the rubber engine cover on certain models.

So are you saying this is normal and my 2022 PHEV SE isn’t supposed to have a cover there?

If I remember right, that piece just pops in, but it can be tricky to install.

Yeah, it’s a plastic cover that clicks into place.

I work as a Ford tech, and not all models came with the top panel. I think it’s because people kept pulling too hard on the back panel and breaking the tabs that connect it to the top one.

If your car never had one, you can usually tell because the metal tabs where the push pins go are still straight. If a panel had been removed before, you’d see marks from a pry tool or bent tabs.
