My 35 year relationship with Ford is over

My very first Ford was an Escort. Have also had an Explorer and two Escapes. Insurance totaled the Escape. And lucky for me I wasn’t underwater - about $100 difference between what I owed and the insurance payout.

Decided to step out of the Ford universe. It’s been fun!

I guess this is your last post on here.

Yeah, kinda sad because you guys are a pretty cool community.

So, what are you going to start driving?

Good choice. I’ve had 8 Ford Escapes from 2008-12. I currently drive one and have 3 others all in good condition. It would be an understatement to say I like this car. But the 2013+ is trash.

@Perry
Truer words…my older Escape was a 2005 and it was a beast!

Good decision. I ended my relationship with Ford recently and went with a Toyota too.

Still Ford strong here. Sorta. The list of Fords since the 80s includes: 76 F100 4x4, Escort, Thunderbird, Escort wagon, Bronco, F150 4x4 Super Crew, F150 crew cab, Mustang, Explorer, Expedition, and 24 Escape ST Line. All had faults, with any vehicles.

Me, too. Mustang GT, Probe GT, Ranger, Explorer, Sable, Explorer, Ranger, Fusion, Escape, F150. All new. All had issues, but the vehicles were relatively reasonably priced, so I kept them for years, except the Mustang (must’ve been a Monday or Friday car - it broke down and had to be towed 3 separate times in the two years I had it).

The Escape? I liked it, but the 1.5L was a ticking time bomb I wasn’t willing to risk. Very disappointed I had to get rid of it, until…

The 2021 F150. $45k for an STX, cam phasers, waste gates, recalls, and a fucking driver’s window that doesn’t seal and they can’t fix.

I know other makes have problems, but Ford won’t be my first choice again.

And I know they don’t care.

@Kim
Yeah, I had one of the farting Fusions. Wound up having a gas tank rupture.

Actually, for me, that was one of the better Ford vehicles I had (2012 SE). Put 190k miles on it before rusted rockers did it in. This truck, with how expensive it was, for me, is very disappointing.

@Kim
Mine was a 2013 Titanium. Gave it to my son last year.

I’ve only owned Fords since I started driving in 1985. Never had any major issues with any of them but not sure what my next vehicle will be since Ford discontinued the Fusion and Edge. I just inherited a 2023 Escape ST with the 1.5 and it doesn’t seem like a very nice vehicle so it’s trade-in time.

@Galen
Kinda where I was. Nothing else that Ford sells now appeals to me.

So it’s Ford’s fault you made a poor financial decision and then wrecked the vehicle?

I’ve been driving Fords since 1992. That’s 33 years. I’m completing a lemon law return of my Escape PHEV. I’m done. It’s over. Because Ford put out a low quality product. And it’s low quality because of bad design.

Edit: I bought a Kia.

@Uma
How do you go about doing a lemon law return? My 2022 PHEV has been great. I wasn’t impressed with the Kia Niro at the time.

I got a Sorento. The Escape is a fun little car. But it destroyed three 12v batteries in 6000 miles. And an electrical issue is hard to diagnose and fix.

The lemon laws vary from state to state. In my case, they had the car in the shop for over four weeks. Then the problem came back.

I let the dealership know and they told me where to phone.
