P0299 code in my 2015 Ford Escape … should I be worried?

Hi everyone,

I’ve got a 2015 Ford Escape with 170,000 km on it. I’ve been driving it since 165,500 km. On a long 7-hour trip through some hilly roads, the check engine light came on. I scanned it, and it showed the P0299 code. I cleared the code, but on the same trip a few weeks later, the light came back on again.

The car still drives fine—no weird sounds or smells.

I’m pretty stressed since this is my first car, and I read that an undercharged turbo could harm the engine. It’s been about a month now driving with this. Is it okay to keep driving? How bad could this get?

Any advice would help. Thanks!

Start with the basics. Check the engine air filter. It could be as simple as that.

Thanks for the tip! I didn’t even think about the air filter. Should I check both the cabin and engine air filters?

@Hart
Just the engine air filter. The cabin filter won’t affect this issue.
