What are the best years for a Ford Escape?

@Ciel
Along with coolant problems, those years also had weak transmissions. Unless it was well-maintained, that’s another part that could fail.

First and second generations (2001-2012) are super reliable. The newer ones are good too, especially post-2019.

The water pump doesn’t cause coolant intrusion.

@Jem
Yeah, if anything, it does the opposite.

I looked into it and ended up with a 2011. The 2010 and 2012 models were also strong options. Had some AC issues, but a $20 part fixed it easily.

What kind of AC issue did you have? Mine stopped working last summer, and I’ve been refilling refrigerant every few months. Wondering if it’s a similar problem.

@Remy
My AC worked on and off in the heat. Replacing the pressure switch fixed it completely. It’s now blowing ice-cold air.

My 2012’s AC just quit recently. Any advice on what to check?

@Bay
Try replacing the pressure switch first. It’s a cheap part and an easy fix.
