I found this keypad with numbers on my car and have no idea what it’s for. Can anyone explain?
That’s a keyless entry pad. You can punch in your code to unlock the doors or lock them.

You don’t actually need the code to lock the doors. Just hold the two bottom buttons (7-8 and 9-0) for a few seconds.
@Ben
Good point. It works either way. I use mine all the time, at least once a week.
Looks like it’s just 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,0.

That’s the same code as my luggage!
It’s a keyless entry pad. You can set a code to unlock your car. The default code should be in your car’s manual, but if it’s been changed, you might need to ask the previous owner or go to a dealership.
@Piper
Thanks so much! No manual came with the car, so I’ll check with the dealership.

Check for a sticker up near the passenger side. The code might be there. There are also YouTube videos showing how to find it.

I had a similar issue with my 2010. The code was printed on a tag inside the center console, but I had to take it apart to see it. Instead, I went to a Ford dealership with proof of ownership, and they gave me the code for $30.
@Remy
You could’ve saved the $30. On my 2010, all you need is a screwdriver. Pop off the chrome trim around the shifter, and the code is right there.

That’s true, but the dealership paid for it, so it didn’t cost me anything.
@Piper
You might also be able to reset it using Forscan if you have the tools.
You can also find the code above the passenger side fuse box, as long as it hasn’t been changed. There are videos online that show you how to do it.

Even if someone sets a personalized code, the original manufacturer code will still work.
@Fallon
Good to know!

Yeah, the manufacturer code always works, even if a custom code is added.
Those are LAUNCH CODES.
One tip I learned: if you use a six-digit code ending in 3/4, it unlocks all the doors. For example, 123454.

Exactly. If your code ends with ‘4,’ it unlocks all doors. If it ends with ‘5,’ it opens the trunk or tailgate.
