I’m looking for information on which year Ford Escapes are considered the most reliable and why. Additionally, I’m curious about which year Hybrids are the most reliable and the reasons behind it.
The first two generations (2001-2012) are fairly reliable, especially with the V6. I’ve heard complaints about the 4-speed auto in the first gen, but mine has been fine.

I have a 1st gen with the 4-speed auto V6 and it’s still running well at 160k miles. The transmission is a bit worn and sometimes jerks during shifting, but overall it’s holding up.
@Oli
That’s interesting! I’m at 156k miles on mine, and the original owner mentioned the transmission was rebuilt before we got it. I drive it pretty hard, so it might have been a good call.
I’d say 2001-2012 across all engines and versions.
My 2008 hybrid has been rock solid and has over 300k miles.
I’ve had a 2008 XLT 4WD for 10 years. It’s generally a good vehicle, but I’ve had an oil leak and ignition issues.

Did your car not start because of that ignition issue?
I’ve owned an '05 3.0, an '06 hybrid, and a 2010 3.0, and I’ve loved all of them.
As others mentioned, stick with 2001-2012. The newer hybrids use the eCVT from the Prius, which is reliable. I’d avoid the 2020 model as it had more issues than the later years.
I love my 2022 ICE, and I’ve heard great things about the 2022 Hybrid.

Same here, my 2022 1.5 has 57k miles with zero problems.

Got a 2022 2.0L—it’s unreal!

I have the 2022 PHEV, and I haven’t faced any issues with it; just under 30k miles.
Nothing with a Ford badge is reliable, lol.

Unfortunately, that might be true.
My '06 front-wheel drive is running with 148k miles. It still has some oil leaks and I’ve done standard maintenance including an alternator at 90k and ball joints at 115k.
I own an '03 4-cylinder manual. It’s an amazing vehicle given its low price, though I blew a power steering hose recently in the extreme cold.
I have a '21 3-cylinder with 168k. It’s been solid overall.

Have you had any issues? I’ve heard newer 3-cylinders are more reliable.
