I bought a 2010 Ford Escape V6 AWD about a month ago, and it was running fine until I had to replace the VVT solenoid. After that, it was okay for a while, but now it’s misfiring at idle. It runs better when I give it gas, but it’s throwing these codes: P0016, P0011, and P0302. Has anyone else had these issues or know what’s going on?
That sounds like a stretched timing chain or a bad chain tensioner to me.
I agree. Could be a stretched chain, broken tensioner, or an issue with the VVT system (or whatever Ford calls it).
I’d start by checking the spark plugs and wires. If you don’t know when they were last changed, it’s worth doing anyway.

The codes seem to point more towards timing issues, and the car has had timing problems before.
@Kingsley
Got it. I didn’t look up the codes. If timing isn’t set correctly, that could explain the misfire. I’d check that next.
