Hi all, I brought my 2018 Escape in for an oil change, and ever since I got it back, the headlight control knob isn’t working properly. The ‘Auto’ setting seems to have disappeared entirely. The vehicle thinks the headlights are on, but it’s stuck in daytime running lights mode, and there’s no night mode inside. My touchscreen is now brighter than my actual headlights when driving at night.
When I told the shop, they denied doing anything and said they’d only check it if I paid their $90/hour fee, which seems ridiculous since this issue only started after they worked on it.
Does anyone know what might be wrong or how I can fix it myself?
I don’t think the oil change place is at fault here. Honestly, it seems unrelated. $90/hour is actually pretty cheap. Have you checked the fuses? That’s where I’d start.

You’re wrong, and your comment is dumb. Stop talking.
@Drew
Okay, so the headlights stay in daytime mode, and the ‘Auto’ setting does nothing? If that’s the case, this might not be a settings issue. Could be something mechanical that got messed up.

Exactly. It’s not a settings problem. Someone at the shop must’ve done something while messing around.
For what it’s worth, whenever I take my car in for service, I always turn everything off—headlights, radio, AC, seat heaters, you name it. Less chance of stuff like this happening.
