This might sound strange, but I need to get a key for my 2018 Ford Escape that looks like my car key but doesn’t actually need to work.
I’m planning to leave an abusive marriage soon and want to put a fake key on my husband’s keychain the night before I leave, so he won’t notice it’s missing. I don’t want him to have access to my car once I’m gone.
Any advice on where to get one? Hope this isn’t against any rules. Thanks in advance!
Check eBay for one.
You could try getting a used Ford key from a scrapyard for cheap, or order a blank unprogrammed key on eBay or Amazon.

Thanks! I should’ve thought of that. It’s been a little stressful, so my brain’s not quite working right (lol, car joke). I don’t want an uncut blank key because that would stand out, so a used one would be better. I’ll contact a local scrapyard. Thanks again!
Is it keyless start? If so, grab one from a junkyard. Lots of Fords from the past 10 years share the same style of key. Even if it’s a key start, they might sell you one. They could ask you to buy the ignition switch too, but it shouldn’t be too expensive, probably cheaper than a blank from a dealer.
You can buy blank keys from eBay or a dealer.
Amazon has a lot of blanks. Is it a keyless start?

Yeah, try a junkyard. You can probably grab a matching key for just a buck or two.
