Weird buzzing and rattling sound when I turn on the AC?

Just noticed this strange buzzing and rattling sound when I turn the AC on. Has anyone else experienced this?

Maybe you’ve been chewing on your shifter too much? :joy:

Haha, the shifter was already peeling when I got the car, and it’s only gotten worse over time! :joy:

Just get a new one for like $20. I couldn’t stand the sticky feel on mine, so I replaced it.

That material is super sensitive! Mine got all scratched up just from resting the trim panel on it while working on the radio.

Try taking out the cabin air filter to see if there’s anything strange in there.

Thanks! I’ll definitely check that out.

While you’re at it, maybe replace it with a coconut carbon one. It smells nice!

@Sam
Wait, there are coconut-scented cabin filters?

Yep! ATP makes them with coconut carbon. Other brands have carbon options too if you want a fresh smell.

Do you have acidic hands or something? That shifter wear is intense!

Some lotions can actually dissolve certain plastics. It’s probably due to the oils in them.

Blame it on the dog. :wink:

Could be a piece of paper or something that fell out of the glove compartment and got into the blower motor. Start there. Good luck! :+1:

I had a similar issue in my old Ford. After getting a new cabin filter, the fans sounded overworked for a week but eventually settled down. It never happened again.
